What planet did the jedi come from?
Where exactly the Jedi arts came from originally is unknown. However, it is now believed that the actual Jedi Order was formed on the planet Tython, roughly 25,000 years before the movies. Ossus was also an important planet in the early days of the Jedi, and some believe that may be where they first came from. Most information that is known about the early years of the Jedi Order and the Republic can be found in Star Wars: The New Essential Chronology by Daniel Wallace (a very cool and informative book).

Are there any Star Wars books coming up that take place in the Old Repulbic Era?
Yes. Also known as the Sith Era or the Knights of the Old Republic Era, the "Old Republic Era" refers to the vast time period in Star Wars history prior to the supposedly final defeat of the Sith a thousand years before the movies. Though this era had been explored in the past by the Dark Horse's comic book series Tales of the Jedi and Jedi vs. Sith, the era was made especially popular recently by the excellent LucasArts video games Knights of the Old Republic and Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords.
Now Dark Horse Comics is about to begin a new series, also titled Knights of the Old Republic, and to answer the original question, there is at least one Star Wars novel being planned for this era. Set for an October 2006 release, the as-yet-untitled hardcover novel is being written by Drew Karpyshyn, who also worked on the story for the Knights of the Old Republic game. More Old Republic Era novels are a possibility for 2008 and beyond, but there are no concrete plans yet. Both Karpyshyn's novel and the new comic book series will take place in the same general time period as the games, but will tell different stories.

What is the source of the dark side energy in the cave in on Dagobah The Empire Strikes Back?
According to the Expanded Universe, the cave on Dagobah was once the hiding place of a Jedi who had turned to the dark side around the time of the Clone Wars. Yoda tracked him down and defeated him, but the dark side energy remained. Luke Skywalker later speculated that the darkness of the cave may have helped keep Yoda hidden from the Emperor, balancing out Yoda's light side energy. This information comes from Timothy Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy of novels (Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, The Last Command), and there is more information about it in his Hand of Thrawn duology (Specter of the Past, Vision of the Future).
