System support

I use Windows, Internet Explorer 6, and a monitor resolution of 1024 x 768, so naturally, this website works best with those settings. However, I have gone to great pains to make the website look at least almost as good on as many different systems and browsers as I have been able to test it on. I have especially put a lot of effort into making it Netscape compatible. However, despite this, the site tends to lag behind in Netscape as far as looking how I want it to. So if you are a Netscape user and something doesn't look right, I apologize, I am probably trying to fix it. Or maybe I've given up. If you are having problems with my site, you should try downloading and installing the newest version of the browser you are using (it's usually free), because I am using some new-ish design techniques that might not work on really old browsers. I have tried to make it so it will degrade relatively gracefully if your browser is not up to date. Another thing to note is that if your browser has a text-size setting, make sure it's not set to "smallest" or anything, because I have some pretty small text in the sidebar. But if something completely doesn't work and you're using the newest version of your browser, please let me know.

Spoiler policy

Yoda's Datapad is NOT a spoiler site. We will not post any information about the plots of upcoming shows, books, comics, or any other releases; nor do we want to hear about them. In addition, we will avoid revealing plot details of books or other releases until at least a month after they come out. After this amount of time has passed, readers will still be warned of any major spoilers, as a courtesy to those who plan to, but have not yet, read the the book or other release. Please do NOT e-mail us with plot spoilers from any not-yet-published or very recent source.

Site history

Before the dawning of Yoda's Datapad as we know it, back around the end of the 20th Century, a beginning Star Wars fan created a website called the Star Wars Datapad. That fan's screen name was Rainbow Droideka. The Star Wars Datapad was worked on rather sparsely and quickly fell into disrepair. However, in March of the year 2000, the official Star Wars website announced that it would be partnering with Homestead.com to provide a service with which fans could create their own Star Wars websites, located at fan.starwars.com. Seeing this, Mr. Droideka decided to start anew, and soon signed up. Wanting a slightly more unique site name, and suspecting "Star Wars Datapad" to already be in use, he named the new site Yoda's Datapad. Rainbow Droideka began constructing a new Star Wars website, laying out its structure and beginning to add content. In December of 2000, Yoda's Datapad was released to the public. Thanks to the Star Wars fan site directory on fan.starwars.com, Yoda's Datapad received a number of visitors. Wanting to make his creation more easily accessible, on April 25th, 2001 Rainbow Droideka registered the domain name yodasdatapad.com. Free from the constraints of the Homestead Sitebuilder tool used on fan.starwars.com, Rainbow Droideka began crafting a new, more professional looking Yoda's Datapad. Now, the site is visited by hundreds of people every day, and is one of the premier online sources for Star Wars themed instant messenger icons and information on new and upcoming Star Wars books.
