BACK TO YODA'S DATAPAD HOME 17 May, 2009 Hi! Some of you may have noticed that the site was down for awhile a few weeks ago. I apologize for that. In addition, all the e-mail addresses on the site were down for several weeks. Again, I'm sorry. Everything's working again now. 15 January, 2009 Happy New Year! I've been working on doing a little maintainance on the site. Nothing big so far, but I'd like to get more involved soon. Ask Yoda is now open to questions about any or all of the books in the recently ended Legacy of the Force series. 23 June, 2008 I don't think I should make any promises about how soon updates are coming, but I want to let you all know that Yoda's Datapad's E-MAIL ADDRESSES ARE CHANGING. This means the Webmaster, Yoda, the Book Update, everything. The new addresses are posted on the E-mail us page. The old addresses will be deactivated by the end of July, so start using the new ones! May the Force be with you! 25 February, 2008 I've added the first batch of new Clone Wars AIM Buddy Icons and MSN Messenger Icons featuring the characters as seen in the upcoming CG-animated series, including several different pictures of the new main character, Padawan Ahsoka. Check it out! 21 February, 2008 I haven't abandoned you! Been busy and having technical difficulties. However, I've updated the novel list, and you may notice I changed the countdown on the main page - if you haven't heard the news about the new Clone Wars CG-animated TV series (which will be premiering as a full-length movie in theaters!), check out this link for the full official announcement and links to more information. I will hopefully have some new Clone Wars icons for download on this site very soon. 2 September, 2007 Check out the great new fan art. Other little things have been updated here and there. Bigger updates soon? I'm doing my best! 31 May, 2007 I've updated the novel list again for the release of the fifth Legacy of the Force book, Karen Traviss's Sacrifice. Also, I just got back from Celebration IV in L.A., and it was awesome. The best part was meeting all kinds of cool people there, including some of the Star Wars authors and editors and a lot of the artists. They also had a couple panels on the books and comics, and those were really cool. Was anyone else there? 20 May, 2007 Well, I've updated the novel list and as I've said a few times, I'm trying to work on the Book Update newsletter. And this Thursday, the 24th, I'm headed off to Los Angeles for the weekend for Star Wars Celebration IV! Woohoo! Are any of you going to be there? Let me know!. Or you could just look for the guy who looks like a hippie Jesus. Or something.... :) 6 May, 2007 Oh dear...I have been less than good about keeping the site updated lately (or even getting it back on track). I've probably broken some promises to some people (getting the book update out by January comes to mind....), and to those people I apologize. It's hard to keep up with this stuff sometimes. But I haven't given up or anything. Everything's just coming along really slowly. I am working on it though. Don't lose hope! I've been having a lot of trouble finding time to work on the site and the book update, but I think I'm making progress little by little, and hopefully I can pick up the pace now. E-mail me if you need anything. 12 February, 2007 Whoa! So I just found out that none of the e-mail addresses listed on this site have been capable of receiving mail since early October. Anything any of you e-mailed to me or Yoda probably got bounced back to you. So sorry about that! All e-mail addresses listed on this site, including for Ask Yoda, are now functional once again. 1 February, 2007 Well, I'm working on the comeback of the Star Wars Book Update newsletter. It's not quite ready yet, but then, there's a lot to catch up on! So there's still time to subscribe before the next one goes out....actually, you can subscribe anytime and I'll be happy to send you copies of archived editions if you ask (within reason). Hey! The GenCon's official Celebration IV site stole my idea for a Celebration IV countdown! Or maybe they had theirs up before mine....whatever. Would anyone be interested in seeing a Spanish version of the Hutt Your Hat! website? 5 January, 2007 Well, hello there! Sorry about the sparsity of updates in recent months. I had a busy summer followed by a long series of technical difficulties and absence. I've updated the main countdown! Instead of a backwards countdown from the Episode III DVD, it's now counting down to Star Wars Celebration IV, the next official Star Wars convention in Los Angeles, California. I also tried to update the book countdowns, though there are so many books coming out that it already became out of date while I was having difficulties getting it online. I'll try and update it again real soon. I've also updated the novel list, but not the book release schedule, though not too much has changed. There still hasn't been another Star Wars Book Update newsletter sent out since June, and I apologize for that. I've promised subscribers that I'll get one out this month. Finally, I've posted some new fan art and fan fiction, and I redid the AIM Buddy Icons download page, so it's much better organized now. As usual, I hope to step up the updates, but I can't make any promises. But definitely feel free to drop me a line anytime and let me know what you think of how the site is progressing! 1 June, 2006 So...it's been awhile. I missed a couple months there, but I have now sent out the new Star Wars Book Update newsletter. Accordingly, I've updated the novel list and the book release schedule. I've also done quite a large update to the book countdowns. I know I've been neglecting the rest of the site, and I'm really hoping to make up for that soon, but it's hard to say just how soon. May the Force be with me...I'm going to need it! ^_^ 24 March, 2006 Hey all. I'm still trying to find the time to make all the needed updates, but in the meantime I have managed to make a hasty update to the book countdowns. The February/March Book Update also went out a couple weeks ago (next one in a week or so hopefully). I also wanted to let you guys know that Bob Vitas's awesome Completely Unofficial Star Wars Encycopedia site (linked to in the Yoda's Datapad Spaceport) has moved to www.cuswe.org. It remains online at its old location, but all updates will be happening at the new one. If you've never seen this site before, you should check it out. It's basically the ultimate encycopedia of the Star Wars universe. 15 February, 2006 For those of you wondering what happened, don't worry - I haven't stopped updating the site. I just have been busy so I haven't gotten a lot of stuff done. But Yoda has still been answering questions (Dark Nest II: The Unseen Queen questions are fair game now, by the way), and the Star Wars Book Update has still been going out monthly. Also, accordingly, the book release schedule and novel list have been updated pretty recently. I'll take care of that silly backwards countdown soon.... 19 October, 2005 Okay. I've been really busy lately with other stuff, but I did finally get a few much-need updates done. The book release schedule and the novel list have been updated in accordance with the September-October edition of the Star Wars Book Update newsletter (it's still monthly - I just think it makes more sense to call it "September-October" because it spans parts of both months). I've also added a new question to the Ask Yoda archive (haven't done that in awhile! I always answer the e-mails though). I also finally took down the "Episode III Playing Now" graphic on the right side of the homepage and put up a countdown for the DVD (less than two weeks to go!). I also updated the video game countdowns with the actual release dates for Battlefront II and Empire at War. Enjoy! And hopefully I'll get more updating done soon. 3 September, 2005 Sorry not much has been happening lately on here, but I'm working on it. I did get the August Book Update out, albeit even later than usual. And of course the book release schedule and the novel list have been updated as well. I'm working on updating the countdowns. Also, I'd like to briefly bring to your attention the situation in New Orleans, where thousands of people are starving and homeless after the destructive Hurricane Katrina. If you can at all afford to help, I urge you to do so - the American Red Cross is taking donations at 1-800-HELP-NOW, and you can also donate or volunteer online at their website: www.redcross.org. It sounds like the very worst may be over, but I can guarantee you they still need more help. 24 July, 2005 I'd like to apologize for two recent issues. First, Yoda and I ended up unexpectedly out of touch for a week, so there are a few Ask Yoda questions and other e-mails from over a week ago that haven't been answered yet - we're both back in contact now, so replies will be coming as soon as possible. Second, due to technical reasons the whole site was offline for over 48 hours starting the day before yesterday. During that time any e-mails sent to us would have been delayed in arriving as well, but we should be receiving them now. Luckily the whole fiasco is over with, so we're back on track and it's business as usual. Sorry again, and I hope the problems haven't detracted in any way from your Star Wars experience. :) 13 July, 2005 The July edition of the Star Wars Book Update has been sent out, a little later than expected (as usual). Accordingly, I've updated the book release schedule and the book countdowns. Also, the MSN Messenger Icons page is now displaying the second wave of the new Episode III icons in the "New Icons" section. Go check it out! 20 June, 2005 I finally added a whole bunch of new Episode III: Revenge of the Sith MSN Messenger Icons and AIM Buddy Icons, and more MSN icons are coming very soon (I'm posting them in two waves). The June edition of the Star Wars Book Update has also long since been sent out, the book release schedule updated, and the book countdowns cleaned up and brought up to date. 25 May, 2005 Hey, so Cait from M80 wanted me to let you guys know about this cool new Episode III "Plug it in & Play" video game - you just buy the controller and then plug it into your TV and it has five different Revenge of the Sith-themed mini-games you can play on it. You can also watch a commercial for it and a sample of gameplay. 20 May, 2005 So that new movie is out, and I'm going to go out on a limb and say all of you should go see it...so it's okay to Ask Yoda Episode III questions now and everything, and I'm working on a new batch of Episode III buddy icons. 6 May, 2005 There's new fan fiction and fan art on the site. The new fiction includes a short story "Betrayal" by Riko Fultyre and the sixth chapter of Chrysta Fett's ongoing story "For Love or Credits." Also from Chrysta Fett we have some new fan art, "Boba Fett Unmasked" and "Red ARC Trooper", a sketch of the character from the Clone Wars animated mini-series. And Swinger has submitted another poster for his imaginary Star Wars movie, "Planet of Dagobah". I'd also like to tell you about a cool fan song about Yoda. It's called "Yoda Was a Jedi Knight" and it's by a band called Universal Smoothness (members: Jimmy Callaghan and Jason Jones). It's really well done, and Jimmy said I could give you the link to download the mp3: click here to download "Yoda Was a Jedi Knight". 3 May, 2005 The May edition of the Star Wars Book Update newsletter has been sent out, and the book release schedule has been updated (the novel list is still correct as well). I've also updated the books, comics and video game countdowns, although the comics countdowns page is currently empty due to a lack of information on future releases. I've also added some Qui-Gon icons to the MSN Messenger Icons and AIM Buddy Icons by request. I'll be posting some new fan art and fan fiction soon, followed by more icons... 29 April, 2005 So I fixed the polls awhile back. And I just now added a bunch of new Boba Fett icons to the MSN Messenger Icons and AIM Buddy Icons. You should check them out, they're pretty nifty. There aren't any new icons of young Boba though; I was making some, but I accidentally deleted them before they were finished and didn't feel like doing it all over again right away...I'm planning on adding some new Episode III icons soon, but requests come first, so if you're looking/waiting for something, let me know. I still need to finish the new Star Wars Book Update newletter, update the books, comics, and games countdowns, and probably several other things as well. Sorry for getting so behind, work has just been piling up like crazy. Less than three weeks until Episode III! 12 April, 2005 I've updated the site with two oustanding new fan submissions. In the fan art section we have a wonderful new painting by fan artist Sherman McClain. Be sure to check it out here! In the fan fiction section we a have an awesome short story by Raish Hecin. Check that out here! I also sent out the April edition of the Star Wars Book Update newletter at the beginning of the month, and the book release schedule and novel list have been updated. Those of you who have requested MSN Messenger Icons or AIM Buddy Icons, sorry I'm taking so long; I promise I'll get that done very soon. Only 37 more days until Episode III! 18 March, 2005 The MSN Messenger Icons and AIM Buddy Icons have been updated with thirty new icons from the first two seasons (Volume 1) of the Clone Wars animated microseries! Volume 2 of the series will be airing on Cartoon Network next week, and Volume 1 is coming out on DVD in the U.S. on Tuesday. I've also added the latest chapter of Chrysta Fett's fan fiction story "For Love or Credits", which you can check out in the fan fiction section. As you may or may not have noticed, a new poll has been added on the righthand side of this page (thanks to Ronald for the idea); you can still vote in the old poll on the web poll archive page. Only 62 more days until Episode III! 9 March, 2005 I've added more icons to the MSN Messenger Icons and AIM Buddy Icons pages - icons based on Episode III: Revenge of the Sith! This should help get you geared up for the premier of the Episode III theatrical trailer tomorrow - for more details on the preview's release, click here. After it comes out of course, I'll be working on another set of new Episode III icons...and I'm also hoping to create a batch of Clone Wars icons in time for the debut of season three on Cartoon Network March 21, and the DVD release of the first two seasons the next day. Two new pictures have also been added to the fan art section, including a cool Episode III collage created by Punkey Bob, a longtime friend of Yoda's Datapad and creator of Hutt Your Hat. Both of the new fan art pictures are also available for download in the brand new desktop wallpapers area of the downloads section! 1 March, 2005 So, I sent out the latest Book Update newsletter last night, and I've updated the book release schedule. I've also added a number of Darth Vader icons to the MSN Messenger Icons and the AIM Buddy Icons. Coming this month: more Episode III icons, and icons for the Clone Wars cartoons. 22 February, 2005 The fourth chapter of Chrysta Fett's fan fiction story "For Love or Credits" has been posted, and it features an exclusive illustration by the author. Check it out! Darth Vader icons and book newsletter coming soon... 11 February, 2005 A new short film has been added to the Fan Films section. It's called "Reborn I", and it's very cool. Go check it out! I also updated the Episode III countdown with a new spiffy-looking graphic, which looks much better than the one I had before. One last thing - I cycled the MSN Messenger Icons page so that it's now showing the second half of the new Anakin icons under "New Icons." You can see all of the Anakin icons on the Anakin MSN Messenger Icons page. 7 February, 2005 The official Star Wars website at www.starwars.com recently announced the release dates for Episode III in sixty-nine different countries (click here to see the official list), and I have updated the countdowns to reflect the new information, so that you can now count down to the movie's release in any of the countries where the release date is known. Although the movie will be coming out on May 18 in France, Belgium, Switzerland, and Uruguay, the main countdown on the homepage will still be targeted at May 19, because this is the date that will apply for the most people. In addition to the added movie countdowns, the countdowns for books, comics, and video games are also up-to-date now. 4 February, 2005 I've added a bunch of Episode II Anakin Skywalker MSN Messenger Icons and AOL Instant Messenger Buddy Icons to the Downloads section. There are quite a few of them, so not all of the new MSN Messenger icons are displayed right now under "New Icons" on the main page. I'll switch it up with the other half in a little while, but you can see all of them now by just going to the Anakin Skywalker Icons page. All of the new AIM icons are on the main AIM Buddy Icons page. I'm currently working on some new Revenge of the Sith icons, and I've also got some Darth Vader, R2-D2, and Clone Wars icons in the works. On that note, I think there's a good chance the next book update will actually be sent out before the end of this month, although I had hoped to do it earlier. 11 January, 2005 Well, I finally posted the fan art that was submitted over the last month and a half. It's a set of five photographs taken by Landon, each showing a different piece of Yoda-themed art seen on the streets of Olympia, WA. To look at them, start by clicking here. 6 January, 2005 I'd like to take this opportunity to let all of you, especially those living in or near the United Kingdom, know about an event coming up this April in Somerset, England. It's a convention called A Galaxy of Stars, which will be featuring guests from Star Wars as well as the Dr. Who series. Star Wars guests attending the event include David Prowse (Darth Vader), Kenny Baker (R2-D2), Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett), and others, possibly even Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia). The organizers of the event have been kind enough to place a mention of Yoda's Datapad in the event program, in return for us helping to spread the word. Also, there's a new web poll in the righthand column of this page, so cast your vote! 22 August, 2004 There's a new story in the Fan Fiction section. It's the first part of a story about Boba Fett. The title is "For Love or Credits" by Chrysta Fett. Click here to read it. The title of Episode III has been announced, and it's Revenge of the Sith. I've updated the countdowns and frequently asked questions to reflect the new information. 9 July, 2004 There's now a new film in the Fan Films section. And this one is one of the finalists for the 2004 Official Star Wars Fan Film Awards! The new film is called "Dude!!! Where's My Lightsaber?" and the only way to really describe it is Star Wars meets Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. It's a Flash animation, made by the same people as "The Bounty Hunters Talk Back". Go check it out! I apologize for that. It's back up now though (obviously). 18 January, 2003 I made some changes to this page, so it should load a little faster now. I also updated the countdowns again, and I posted some more Ask Yoda questions. 3 December, 2002 Some new Ask Yoda questions have been added. I also updated the countdowns again. 6 November, 2002 I updated the countdowns. 14 October, 2002 The countdowns section has been updated. I also managed shaved about 20Kb of of this page, which means it might load slightly faster now. That's all that is new at the moment, but stay tuned. I am currently working on the as-yet-non-operational informational part of this website, which will have information about the movies books, and more, hopefully including a databank of information abou people, places, and things in the Star Wars universe. 22 September, 2002 I added some stuff. The Star Wars FAQ has some more questions now, and I started an update archive (link at the bottom of the page) because the page was filling up. I also added a really cool Java applet to the trivia page, so you can now take an interactive Star Wars quiz! There are two more things I did: I added a bunch of quotes to the random quote thing above, and I added a bunch of cool links to the downloads page. 6 September, 2002 I added a few questions to the Star Wars FAQ, joined a Star Wars web ring (the navigation bar is down at the bottom of the page), and I updated the comic book countdowns. 15 August, 2002 The countdowns section is all nice and tidy now, and I changed the countdown in the righthand column of the homepage so it is counting down to Episode III. I don't know the exact date of course, so I used my best guess, which is May 18th, 2005. 10 July, 2002 Hello again! I fixed the random quote thing, but for some reason it still doesn't work on Netscape 4, so it won't show up if that's what you're using. If you are using a version of Netscape or Internet Explorer below 4, I don't know what it will do, but you should seriously consider updating your browser - it is free, after all. I made the search engine at the bottom of the page a lot better. Not only does the search results page look better now, but I made a lot of changes you won't see but that make it work a lot better. 7 July, 2002 As you can see, I have changed the look of the main page, so it looks a lot better. I also added a random quote right above this, but it isn't working real well in Netscape, and I don't know why, so I appologize for that if you are using Netscape. I went threw and fixed a bunch of little things too, so the whole site looks a little better now. We also got new e-mail addresses, so you can e-mail me, Rainbow Droideka, at webmaster@yodasdatapad.com and you can get Yoda at yoda@yodasdatapad.com. I'm working on more content, so hang in there :). 23 May, 2002 I updated the "favorite movie" poll to include Episode II, so if you have seen it and it is your favorite you can vote for it. If you already voted for something else, it should let you vote again. I know that's not a real organized approach to it, but oh well. I have also added to the Fan Submissions section a new fan film and three new fan art pictures:
30 April, 2002 Welcome to the new Yoda's Datapad! While progress continues, Yoda's Datapad has now reached a sufficient level of finality that I encourage you to look around and tell people about it. It's only getting better from here folks. The Library section is not yet presentable, but the Livingroom section is now for the most part done, so have fun. Be sure to vote in the Yoda's Datapad web poll in the right-hand column!
